Asparagus adscendens

Asparagus adscendens is a traditional herb native to the forests of the eastern and western regions of India. It is an annual plant of 45 cm in height with sub-erect lanceolate leaves, white flowers and has dense tuberous root system. Ascending branches are gray in color and full of straight thorns and measuring about 1-1.5 cm in thickness. The leaves have long, hairy and round peduncle, measuring 1.5-4 cm. Roots are elongated.

Chemical composition – Consists of steroidal glycosides, 3-heptadecanon, hexadecanoic acid, methyl pentadecanoic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, sarsasapogenin, asperoside, asparanine.

Properties – Anodyne, aphrodisiac and galactogogue, tonic rejuvenator, gastroprotective, anti-tumor, sustains libdo, increases fertility.
