Hordeum vulgare (barley) is a plant with a radicular fasciculated root system. The stem of barley is a culm, with 5-7 internodes, which reaches a height of 50-110 cm. At each node, there appears long (20-35 cm), and narrow (1 cm) a tongue shape leaf. In barley, flowers are hermaphrodite and autogamic – the type 3 or sterile. Every flower forms one spiculet. These uniflower spiculets appear 3 to each rachis heel (The basal end of a plant used in propagation) of rachis, forming inflorescence, which is a simple spike. In barley of 6 rows, the 3 spiculets of the of the rachisheel rare fertile while barley with 2 rows, central speculet is fertile, whereas 2 lateral spiculets are sterile. The fruit is a caryopsis of barley covered with pale color.
