Pistacia integerrima

Pistacia integerrima is a multi branched tree with a single stem, with deciduous leaves, grows to 25 meter tall. Tree has base of crona of low/ dense and deep roots. Leaves are large, with 25 cm long, pinnate (commonly paripinnate) and 2-6 pairs of leaflets which are lanceolate to long. Terminal leaflet is much smaller than the lateral or reduced to a mucro fruit. Fruits are globular, apiculate, 5-6 mm in diameter, which become purple or blue at maturity and a bone hard endocarp.

Chemical composition – Contains pistagremic acid, tannins, monoterpenes, triterpenoids, sterols, and flavonoids, dihidromalvalic acid.

Properties – Digestive, anti-pyretic, fliuidifies mucous, soothes cough, anti-inflammatory, anti-asthmatic, appetizer, carminative, astringent.
